At Periwinkle Preschool we recognise and respect that children are unique individuals on a path of learning. We welcome each child and their family openly on their learning journey.

AGES

We welcome children aged 3-5 years old.

SCHEDULE

DAILY RHYTHM

9:15 am - Arrival, fruit in basket, Acknowledgement of Country, & Good Morning Song.

Children arrive with their parents, place their fruit in the basket, and sit down in a circle where we have a cup of Chamomile Tea. Followed by acknowledging the traditional owners of the land Periwinkle stands on and our morning song.

9:30 am - Inside/outside play (weather dependant) & daily activity.

Children are encouraged to participate in the daily activity which may be bread-making, watercolour painting, beeswax modelling or crayon drawing – or they may choose domestic work or self-initiated play. Food preparation is part of the daily curriculum.

This is a valued focus of the daily curriculum. Our beautiful garden and natural play equipment provide an environment for the children to run, climb, explore, and create many and varied play scenarios. Where as our colourful inside space is filled with toys made from natural materials that nourish our child’s senses and keep them in their imaginative state.

At the end, everyone helps tidy away and everything is carefully returned to its home.

1:00 pm - Lunch

We all sit together to share a blessing and enjoy a wholesome, nutritious lunch provided by Periwinkle.

A lavender face wash and playing of the lyre set the mood. Children have an opportunity to stop and enjoy the quiet.

The same story is told for several weeks, often using puppets and props.

3:15 pm - Goodbye

The children and their teachers sing their Goodbye song and part ways until the next time we come together as one.
